How to verify a dentist, clinic and implant in China

A brand name, dentist biography or equipment photograph is not a complete evidence chain. Match the institution, dentist, location, registration and device actually used.

Direct answer

Obtain the medical institution's full registered name, actual address and the dentist's name. Check the public practice information through the National Health Commission portals, then compare it with the documents and people at the treatment location. For an implant or other medical device, record the product identifier, registration or filing information, model and record of actual use, then check the public National Medical Products Administration database. No single search proves clinical quality.

Six steps to a reviewable record

    Record complete names

    Do not rely on a branch nickname, online alias or English brand. Record the medical institution's full registered name, actual address, dentist's name and booked department.

  2. 02

    Search the medical institution

    The National Health Commission service portal provides a medical institution practice registration search. Save the date, search term and result. If no match is obtained, record only that outcome; do not immediately label the institution unlicensed.

  3. 03

    Search the dentist

    The physician practice information search includes fields for the person's name and medical institution. Search the dentist together with the proposed treating institution to reduce same-name errors.

  4. 04

    Compare the location and treating person

    At the appointment, compare the name, address and displayed documents with the booking, and confirm that the expected dentist is the person treating you. If something changes, request a written explanation and check again.

  5. 05

    Check medical-device information

    China's Unique Device Identification (UDI) database can be searched by product identifier, product name or company. Also obtain the model, registration or filing information, batch or serial details and record for the product actually used in your care.

  6. 06

    Preserve the limits of the evidence

    Record the object checked, portal, time, result summary, on-site consistency and missing evidence. Do not place identifiable clinic, dentist or patient records in a public article.

What each check can—and cannot—show

Registration is not a quality rating

A public result can help confirm registration information at a particular time. It does not prove treatment outcomes, case volume, service quality or the absence of disputes. Likewise, finding a product in the UDI database does not prove that product was used for you; the packaging, batch information and clinical record still need to match.

Pause when these facts do not match

  • The booked institution, on-site name and payment recipient cannot be reconciled.
  • The treating dentist is not the person previously identified and there is no clear explanation.
  • Only brand authorisation or packaging photographs are offered, with no record of actual use.
  • A search with no penalty result is described as “no disputes” or “no incidents”.
  • Documentary verification is presented as a guarantee of safety, outcomes or superiority.
